The Trail of Saint George Bishop is a historical - religious based on the routes of evangelization of the first bishop of Suelli (Trexenta), born and lived in Sardinia during the eleventh century, when the island was divided into the Giudicati.

Cammino

St. George was made bishop by Judge Torchitorio whe he was very young and he was given the bishopric called Ecclesia Barbariensis, which included several places of the central-eastern Sardinia that were far away from the episcopal seat established in Suelli. Therefore the bishop travelled on foot and on horseback to reach the villages of his diocese, to carry out his pastoral activity.

On the basis of the toponyms and historical memories about the bishop of Suelli, in 2008 a group of friends belonging to voluntary associations Iubilantes Como Legambiente and Sardinia are walking along the ancient districts of Trexenta, Ogliastra and the Barbagia for study and experiment with different walking trails that cross the Ecclesia  Barbariensis.

The work done over the years has allowed us to trace the main axis of a Historic Trail Religious Environmental named Bishop of St. George Suelli that is already registered in the Register of the Regional Trails of Sardinia established by Ministerial Decree n. 22 of 19. 09. 2013.
